testing.......
[So Yukari found out that Minako was gone a little while ago, and, though she knows she and the others close to her have been looking for her, hoping she’s maybe just missing or something... There’s a sinking kind of feeling in the air, and finally, she’s come to Heimdall, having a feeling that she’s not the person who’s hardest hit by this.]
...Minato-kun? C’mon, open up...
[ He's not suffered a total social relapse or anything. Minato still talks to people, still goes out and does things, but it's without that spark most of the time. He's lost someone who understood him almost completely, and that's a selfish reason to be upset and if it were just that there'd be no problem, he'd get over himself and move on. But there's also the fact that he cares a lot about Minako and doesn't want what happened to him to happen to her, necessarily. Yeah, he didn't regret a thing. And yeah, it was likely she wouldn't either.
But hadn't he done what he'd done to prevent his friends from being hurt? What use is that if one of his friends is actually his alternate self?
It's a lot to bear. A lot to think about. Minato's used most of his copious free time these past few days bearing it and coping with it, usually with the help of music and an empty room.
Visits like these are fine, though. He gets up, opens the door, and gives Yukari a watery smile she'll no doubt see right through. ]
Hey... how's it going?
[She gives him a look, partly exasperated that he’s trying to put on that kind of face for her, and partly touched by it, and enters the room, touching his arm lightly.]
Well, I’m okay. But... What about you?
...Look, I know I can’t really say much to help out, but... y’know. I’m here to do whatever I can do, right? So... Even if it’s just getting you tea or something. I know... we both know what it’s like to lose someone like that.
[ Minato shrugs, putting a hand over Yukari's where hers rests on his arm. ] I'm holding up. [ Not "fine". That would be a bit of a stretch. He is managing, though. He looks down, voice going even softer than usual for a moment. ] This makes me understand your concerns about my leaving someday, though. It's the same thing, sort of.
[She looks away, her voice hardening a little, not really with an angry tone, but more with the brittleness of the situation. And yeah, she might be a little extra moody today, too.]
I don’t wanna think about that... I mean, you’re right, but... [Well, she really doesn’t want to think about it. Denies the possibility, even. They’re here, they’ve been doing their job, haven’t they? Her gaze returns to his face, and her tone becomes quiet and musing again.] You’ll stay, Minato-kun. Or I’ll go with you, wherever... So, there’s no reason to worry about it.
Even if she’s not here, she’s still out there. Back in her own universe, right? That... well, it makes me feel a little better about it, anyway.
[ It doesn't really make him feel better. Not by much, anyway. But Yukari's right, it was stupid of him to bring that up. He let his guard down. He's in the kind of mood lately where he can't manage to say the right things like he used to. His emotions are getting in the way.
It's probably best to deflect back to her. It's around now that Minato's bracelet turns on and starts recording. ]
Enough about me... you seem on edge today. [ He looks and sounds perfectly sympathetic, too. ]
[...He can’t tell, can he? No, it’s just a coincidence, right? Yeah, he’s just talking about Minako! Unfortunately, naming the effect causes it to come into being, and she does indeed sound on edge now.]
I-It’s only enough about you if you’re okay... And, I’m definitely fine myself... Other than her, I mean.
I am. I'm okay. [ Minato squints at Yukari, frowning slightly with curiosity. ] You're upset, too?
[And that scrutiny makes her feel more self-conscious still.] W-Well, I mean, she was close to you and me... Of course I am. But, I mean, it’s not as bad for me, ya know, so...!
[She shrugs a bit, putting her arm around his shoulders to distract herself a little.]
[ Uh. That's a little strange. She's acting a little strange right now... is she hurt? Minato's Damage Drain skill allows him to take on others' pains, so if it's just a case of having a migraine or something, he'd be happy to relieve her of that. There's little hesitation - Minato wraps his own arm around Yukari's waist, draws in a deep breath, and performs a quick, precautionary Damage Drain.
...
Then he promptly falls to his knees, holding his stomach. ] ....what the?
[It takes her more than a second to register what just happened.
Then her jaw drops and all thoughts of sadness and Minako and oh-he’s-my-boyfriend-I-love-him vanish, to be replaced by an expression usually saved for Junpei, something that would strike fear into an average Junpei’s heart, and then very quickly again by extreme embarrassment.]
Oh my God, you idiot! How can you -- w-what were -- Nothing was -- It’s … Didn’t I tell you not to...
[...Staring at him clutching his stomach, her eyes dart around everywhere, and suddenly happen to fall on his bracelet...
Wait a second...]
Are you recording this!?
N-No... [ But wait, the light is on. He never turned that on, though. He'd remember doing that, even through this indescribable pain that seems to be originating deep in his gut. It spreads to his back, his hips, even his thighs down to his knees. He's wincing.... a headache is one thing, but this is pure torture. What had been wrong with Yukari...? ] I thought you said you were fine. This is... [ Not fine, that's for sure! ]
[Pure, unadulterated horror is on her face now.]
I-I was! Oh my God, this is the most embarrassing...
[But before anything else can be said, she (miraculously limber and free of pain!) scrambles down, not to be solicitous of him, but to nearly smash his bracelet (and maybe wrist) to turn the damn thing off.]
((ooc note: the stuff outside the cut is broadcast to the whoooole of asgard! yay how embarrassing! also, yukari and minato.))
